Proverbs 13:22 – “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, And the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.”
There’s something I love about the ability to leave a legacy. I was born into a family with a legacy of four generations of investment bankers. There’s no doubt that is definitely a legacy, but I have also learned that legacy means more than just inheriting money. It goes beyond just storing up riches on earth for the generations that will follow. Legacy is also about teaching and imparting kingdom principles to your children and their children so that the wisdom outlasts even the greatest gold.
When my three daughters were growing up, every morning, my wife and I read scripture to them over a hot breakfast. We were not only imparting quality time, but also eternal truth and practical wisdom into their young hearts.
Now that they are all grown women with families of their own, I see them teaching their children the same principles and imparting their own legacy.
Legacy is more than just the wealth that you leave to your children and their children, but it is also the eternal values, wisdom, and truth that you impart. We will be discussing the concept of legacy more in the future, but leave us a comment and let us know what kind of traditions and experiences you have done to create legacy in your family.
