God’s Plans For You Are Good Even In The Wilderness

One of my favorite things about God is how He very much enjoys designing and implementing plans and patterns. All throughout scripture, God shows His people the way to operate through His plans and patterns.

In Exodus 20, we see the story of when Moses went up the mountain to meet with God. He had just brought the Israelites out slavery in Egypt, which was no small feat, but now he is receiving the new instructions for how to proceed with the nation’s destiny. On the mountain, we read that God gave Moses the 10 Commandments, but He also laid out the plan for the tabernacle.

God had delivered the Israelites out of Egypt, but He wasn’t going to just leave them to fend for themselves. His intent was to lay out the next steps for them and show them the way to walk. So it is with you. God’s intention for you, just like it was with the Israelites, is to take you from the wilderness to the Promised Land.

He has desires and plans for you as you partner with Him as one of His beloved children. His plans are good and for your benefit.

Proverbs 10:22 states that “it is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich, and He adds no sorrow to it.”

Now, that does not mean that there will never be sorrow. On the contrary; even Jesus said that in this life we would face trials. The Israelites still had to walk through the wilderness, but it was their choices in the desert that dictated how long it took them to reach their destiny.

When the people looked at the mountain where Moses was getting instructions from God, they said it looked like a consuming fire. The people knew something big was going on, but instead of being patient for the plans from God for how to move forward, they said, “Oh, he’s delayed…” And so they resorted to their own devices and began building an idol—a golden calf.

At times, that’s how difficult we also are. God is building a pattern for your life. He desires to give you instructions for that pattern. My encouragement to you is to wait on God and His timing for the pattern to be revealed. Don’t get caught up in chasing gold or any other thing in place of God. That is the easiest way to short-circuit the pathway to your destiny.

God is building a pattern for the Kingdom of God in your life and it is a great and precious future!
